Eagle Scout Project Gives Respect to Worn Flags

Area residents can take advantage of new flag collection boxes in Long Lake, Blair, Almira and Inland Township halls in Grand Traverse and Benzie counties.

The hinged oak boxes were constructed by Long Lake Township resident Levi Cederquist as part of an Eagle Scout project. But that isn't all. Cederquist, 18, also collects the flags whenever the boxes get full and retires them by burning them ceremonially and burying their ashes on his family's 14-acre property.
